Good morning Harshit!! Today is a wonderful day. Temperature is 22 degrees celsius and there could be a slight shower in the evening at around 6. If you are planning to have dinner with your wife, it has been a long time since you have had pasta. Pink sauce pastas are your favourite meal to cook together. Do you want me to check the ingredients for it?
Harshit: Good morning Alexa! What do you suggest for dinner then?
Alexa: You have enough pasta, cheese and milk but yellow and red bell pepper seems out of stock. Also Oregano might not be sufficient and you will need some bread. Do you want me to place an order?
Harshit: Yes, please place it on a big-basket and book a 6.30pm slot. Ask them to drop it at the gate. I will pick it up from there.
Well this looks like a sci-fi movie scene but we are doing this manually somewhat everyday. If we see the evolution of technology for the last one hundred years, we will see that technology has made manual work more or less redundant. For. ex: searching for any service you require through yellow pages, now google will give you that instantly or making your room cool before you reach home.
Last decade saw a lot of integration of devices and systems / sensors. This decade we will see applications of those integration helping in ease of living. As more and more family members become busy with work or other chores of life including virtual events and social engagements, time for basic chores like shopping will take a backseat. We already have 15 minutes delivery in major metro cities. Integrating those hyper local ecommerce stores with our refrigerators and other inventories of house will be a natural extension.
Visiting e-commerce websites to buy groceries will itself be tiresome so you will just want one of your assistants from Alexa to Siri to do that for you.
For people who miss socialising over shopping will be having a different experience together than what it is today. It will be like playing a PUB-G but instead of killing your enemy, you and your friends will be shopping online together in a virtually simulated mall. You would be hopping from store to store and maybe have a coffee together which would be delivered to your door via swiggy or zomato. You will be able to create your own avatars shopping from different platforms but will be able to use them across platforms. NFTs will be making use of avatars and their accessories across platforms possible making metaverse a reality.
Our future will be very much integrated with all the digital solutions we are using and it will seamlessly amalgamate with our day to day life. What we have to see is how humans will react to such coalesce. Or will this be just a fad that will pass by in a decade or two?
